Front Desk Agent
About the Role
As a Guest Service Agent, you will be responsible for checking guests in and out of their rooms. You will work with guests both in-person and online to reserve rooms, answer questions about the hotel, and provide details and recommendations about local activities. Your role includes obtaining or confirming guest information, assigning rooms, activating and distributing keys, collecting payments for room charges and other fees, and ensuring a seamless guest experience.
Responsibilities
- Greet, register, and assign rooms to guests.
- Issue room keys and provide escort instructions to guests or bell staff without announcing room numbers.
- Date-stamp, sort, and rack incoming mail and messages.
- Transmit and receive messages using telephone, fax, and switchboard.
- Answer inquiries about hotel services, guest registration, and local attractions, dining, entertainment, and travel directions.
- Maintain records of room availability and guest accounts.
- Compute bills, collect payments, and make change for guests.
- Make, confirm, and cancel reservations for guests.
- Post charges such as room, food, liquor, or telephone by hand or machine.
- Make restaurant, transportation, or entertainment reservations for guests as needed.
- Deposit guests’ valuables in the hotel safe or safe-deposit box.
- Order complimentary flowers or champagne for special guests at management’s direction.
- Understand and enforce the hotel’s credit policies.
- Account for all cash and make deposits in accordance with hotel and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with other front office and hotel departments.
- Report to work on time for scheduled shifts, in uniform, and in compliance with company policy.
- Know and comply with all company policies and procedures pertaining to this position and its duties.
- Take initiative to greet guests in a friendly and warm manner.
- Cross-sell other Shamin Hotels.
- Perform other related duties as required.
