About the Role

Transform ordinary into extraordinary—and terrifying! As a Fright Fest makeup artist, you will bring ghastly creatures, scare-actors, and haunting icons to life at Six Flags Darien Lakes' spooktacular event. Working in a high-energy, fast-paced environment, you'll utilize special effects makeup, airbrush techniques, foam latex, and silicone prosthetics to transform performers for our haunted houses and scare zones.

Responsibilities

• Create and design Fright Fest characters through makeup application.
• Utilize prosthetics, traditional, special FX, and airbrush techniques to apply makeup to performers.
• Create an average of 30 faces over a 2-hour timeframe nightly.
• Create and apply unique character designs to performers/actors.
• Apply touch-up makeup and effects, both in the field and dressing room throughout the night, for actors/performers.
• Maintain the highest standards of safety.
• Be a reliable member of a team.
• Maintain professional standards in accordance with all Six Flags policies and procedures.
• Follow all opening and closing procedures and checklists.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be available for training and/or rehearsals prior to the beginning of Fright Fest.
• Must be willing and able to work closely with other employees.
• Must be comfortable working in dim lighting, confined spaces, and around large groups of people.
• Must be able to work various shifts as project and park needs dictate, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong time management skills and motivated to thrive under pressure.
• Must have the ability to stand, walk, crouch, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift up to forty pounds occasionally.
• Should be a self-starter and able to take direction.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed primarily outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Lighting is both natural and artificial.
• Equipment used includes radios, airbrushes, air compressors, various makeup tools and products (including latex), and cleaning tools.
• Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting, and carrying.
• Days and hours will vary and will include weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Position will require close contact with park guests.
