Primary Purpose
Massman is seeking an experienced Barge-Mounted Friction Crane Operator to safely and efficiently operate a friction crane on marine and heavy civil construction projects. This role requires strong technical skill and judgement, and a proven ability to work in dynamic marine environments. This individual will be responsible for maintaining strict safety and productivity standards.
Essential Job Functions
- Works as assigned by supervisor to ensure the successful completion of on-going or new marine construction projects.
- Manipulate crane controls to regulate speed, direction of crane and hoist movement using foot pedals, levers, dials, and switches.
- Coincide and perform lifts within crane and safety standards.
- Coincide with ground personnel and interpret hand and verbal signals.
- Ensures loads are properly rigged and safe for lifting or moving.
- Operates cranes for other projects operating out of the yard.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of marine construction experience
- Must have friction crane experience
- Able to operate lattice boom crawler cranes and hydraulic cranes (a plus)
- 3+ years of experience H-Piles, Steel Pipe Piles and Flat Sheet Piles
- 3+ years of experience working with vibratory pile hammers, diesel impact hammers, and Hydraulic hammers
- Able to operate forklifts
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Unconditional use of Company supplied PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug test
Physical Requirements
- Must be willing to take a post-offer physical
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, kneel, crawl, stoop and/or sit
- Must be able to tolerate rough seas, vibrations, heat, harsh weather conditions, confined spaces, and high noise levels
- Work will frequently require individuals to push, pull, bend or stand for long periods of time, and climb ladders that have capacity limits of 300 lbs
- Must be able to lift or carry miscellaneous equipment, supplies and parts up to 50 lbs. unassisted
