Freight Rail Track Section Manager

Responsibilities
- Be responsible for the operations of the freight rail track/planning/facilities section including staff growth, staff development, technical leadership, quality control, marketing support, and coordination with other disciplines.
- Serve as a Senior Engineer on freight rail projects, managing projects from concept through final design.
- Manage sub-consultants and technical support staff, ensuring projects exceed client expectations for quality, schedule, and budget.
- Maintain close relationships with existing and potential clients, assisting with business development for the freight rail market.
- Track upcoming project opportunities and collaborate on project pursuits.
- Select, train, develop, and manage technical personnel.
- Work cooperatively with other senior engineers in local and regional marketing and production efforts.
- Take responsibility for operations of the production section, including staff development, profitability, morale, quality control, and marketing support.
- Function as Project Manager, taking responsibility for production on projects alongside management duties.
- Take administrative responsibility for section staff and technical service functions, leading and coordinating services with other sections.
- Be involved in marketing planning, proposals, and interviews.
- Engage directly with industrial and public clients on marketing, project production, and related issues.
- Ensure all work is planned, organized, controlled, and evaluated through a proactive project management system.
- Implement, monitor, and support company policy.
- Manage and develop multidisciplinary teams.
- Work cooperatively with National Directors and marketing staff in local and national marketing and production efforts.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience.
- Professional registration, license, or certification may be required based on role.
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments.
- Good leadership and organizational skills.
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture.
