On-siteQuality Assurance$25/hrFull-time

About the role

The Weights & Inspections function sits at the intersection of revenue integrity, operational precision, and customer trust. This role ensures every shipment moving through the network is accurately classified, properly documented, and compliant with tariff and safety standards while identifying missed revenue opportunities. The Freight Quality Inspector strengthens accuracy across the network, reduces rework, and provides actionable feedback to operations, sales, and terminal leadership, driving measurable improvements in shipment accuracy, minimizing revenue leakage, and elevating freight‑handling consistency.

Responsibilities

  • Execute shipment inspection and revenue capture by inspecting inbound and outbound shipments to identify reweigh, reclass, and revenue recovery opportunities.
  • Accurately enter shipment changes based on physical inspections and dimensioning systems, ensuring proper freight classification, density calculations, and tariff application.
  • Maintain strict adherence to inspection standards to protect revenue integrity.
  • Conduct quality inspections on loaded freight to ensure secure, compliant, and damage‑free movement.
  • Partner with dock operations to improve load quality and reduce service failures.
  • Identify recurring issues and drive corrective actions with terminal teams.
  • Participate in daily pre‑shift and service‑center meetings to reinforce expectations.
  • Inspect weights & inspections equipment, dock tools, and overall facility conditions; escalate maintenance or safety concerns proactively.
  • Ensure all inspection tools are calibrated, functional, and used correctly.
  • Support a safe, organized, and performance‑driven work environment.
  • Collaborate with terminal leadership and sales teams to provide feedback on customer accounts and freight patterns; communicate inspection findings to influence operational and commercial decisions.
  • Build strong working relationships across operations, safety, and revenue management teams.
  • Train dock personnel on proper reweigh procedures and inspection standards; reinforce best practices to improve consistency and reduce errors across shifts.
  • Act as a subject‑matter resource for inspection processes and compliance requirements.
  • Support a culture of accountability, precision, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 2–3 years of experience in freight operations, inspections, or a related logistics environment.
  • Strong understanding of freight classification, weight/density principles, and inspection processes (preferred).
  • Proficiency with personal computers, including email, spreadsheets, and database systems.
  • Experience with AS/400 or industry‑specific systems (preferred).
  • Advanced mathematical capabilities, including statistical analysis and data interpretation.
  • Ability to create reports, document procedures, and clearly communicate findings.
  • Experience handling sensitive business and customer data with a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Proven ability to work cross‑functionally with operations, management, and customer‑facing teams.

How You Operate

  • Think in systems, not isolated tasks, recognizing how inspection accuracy drives business performance.
  • Take ownership of outcomes and hold a high bar for precision.
  • Identify issues early and act decisively to correct them.
  • Communicate clearly, confidently, and with purpose across all organizational levels.
  • Balance speed with accuracy, ensuring work is both efficient and reliable.
  • Bring discipline and consistency to every inspection and interaction.
  • Operate with integrity when handling sensitive and confidential information.

Compensation

Pay: $25.00 per hour

Schedule

Work Shift: Second Shift (night/overnight)

Benefits

  • Full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The role involves moderate physical activity performing non‑strenuous daily administrative tasks. While performing duties, the employee is regularly required to sit, reach/handle items, work with the fingers, and talk and hear others in conversations via phone or in person. Occasionally the employee must stand, walk, stoop, kneel, climb or balance and lift objects up to 50 lb.

The noise level is moderate to high due to general conversation tones, ringing phones, and laser printer operation. Work time is split between a well‑lit, heated and/or air‑conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation and a dock setting. Occasional work may occur near moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals. The position primarily involves night/overnight shifts.
