Freelance Video Editor – Podcast

About the role

Join an impactful project supporting gambling recovery by mentoring and editing for a new three-camera video podcast based in Chicago. This role involves hands-on editing of the first 5–7 episodes using Adobe Premiere Pro, including syncing multi-camera footage, selecting optimal camera angles, cleaning up audio, applying colour correction, adding captions and graphics, and exporting polished episodes for YouTube. You will also create engaging social media clips for platforms such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts. A key aspect of this position is providing patient, step-by-step guidance to help the team learn the editing workflow, with the goal of enabling more in-house production over time. On-site or hybrid collaboration in Chicago is preferred, but candidates willing to travel will also be considered.

Deliverables

• Edit and deliver 5–7 full-length podcast episodes for YouTube, ensuring high-quality audio and video.
• Sync and manage footage from three cameras, selecting the best angles for each segment.
• Apply colour correction, audio clean-up, and add captions and graphics as needed.
• Export and format episodes for YouTube and other platforms.
• Produce short-form social media clips tailored for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.
• Provide mentorship and hands-on training in Adobe Premiere Pro, guiding the team through the editing process.
• Collaborate on-site or in a hybrid capacity in Chicago, with flexibility for travel if required.

Requirements

• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and multi-camera editing workflows.
• Strong experience editing podcasts or similar long-form video content.
• Demonstrated ability to clean up audio, apply colour correction, and add captions/graphics.
• Experience creating engaging short-form video content for social media platforms.
• Excellent communication skills and a patient, supportive mentoring style.
• Availability for on-site or hybrid sessions in Chicago; willingness to travel is a plus.
• Ability to teach and document editing processes for future in-house use.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
