Freelance UI / UX Design Consultant - Service Design

Our client, a Fortune 100 insurance firm, is seeking a Freelance UI/UX Design Consultant for a 6-month hybrid role (1-2 days onsite at their NYC office, 2-3 days remote) with strong potential to extend.

About the role

• Facilitate discovery workshops to uncover processes, systems, tools, and stakeholder needs.
• Synthesize research and business input into clear, actionable journey artifacts.
• Create end-to-end customer, advisor, and internal journey maps.
• Develop service blueprints highlighting front-stage and back-stage experiences.
• Maintain journey maps as a single source of truth.
• Build scalable, AI-ready templates, workflows, and production processes.
• Create and manage a library of reusable journey mapping assets.
• Access to client or customer systems, confidential and/or proprietary information or data, including financial information.

Requirements

• Ideally 3+ years of Service Design, Journey Mapping, or Experience Strategy experience.
• Strong workshop facilitation and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven experience building repeatable frameworks and processes.
• Strong systems-thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with Figma, FigJam, and similar collaboration tools.
• Experience leveraging AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude.
• Ability to create scalable, shareable design artifacts.
• Currently authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship for a non-immigrant visa.
• Must be physically located in and perform the work in the United States.

Schedule

• 6-month contract with potential to extend.
• Hybrid: 1-2 days onsite at NYC office, 2-3 days remote.
• 40 hours per week.
