We are seeking a strategic and creative Social Media Strategist to support communications efforts for the NY Penn Station Transformation Project, one of the most significant transportation infrastructure initiatives in the country. This individual will play a key role in executing and evolving our social media presence, helping educate stakeholders, increase public awareness, and highlight project milestones and progress.

This is a remote, ongoing contract opportunity requiring approximately 15-25 hours per week. Workload may fluctuate based on project activity, communications priorities, and project milestones. While the role is fully remote, preference will be given to candidates located in the New York metropolitan area or those with familiarity of the broader New York transportation and commuter landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Execute social media concepts and campaigns currently in development while contributing fresh, innovative ideas to enhance audience engagement.
  • Develop and manage a rolling 60-90 day social media strategy and editorial calendar aligned with project milestones, communications objectives, and key announcements.
  • Write, edit, and refine compelling social media copy that informs, educates, and engages diverse audiences.
  • Identify opportunities to increase project visibility, drive positive sentiment, and amplify progress updates across owned social channels.
  • Monitor social media trends, conversations, and engagement metrics to continuously improve content performance and audience reach.
  • Collaborate closely with project stakeholders, including Jason and the broader communications team, to ensure social content supports overarching communications goals.
  • Recommend and implement content strategies that effectively translate complex infrastructure updates into clear, audience-friendly messaging.
  • Maintain consistency in brand voice, messaging, and visual storytelling across platforms.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with public transportation, infrastructure development, or the New York metropolitan area.
  • 5+ years of experience in social media strategy, content development, or digital communications.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing social media calendars and campaigns for public-facing organizations, government agencies, transportation entities, infrastructure projects, or similarly complex initiatives.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to distill complex topics into engaging content.
  • Experience analyzing social media performance and translating insights into content recommendations.

In this position, you may have access to client or customer systems, confidential and/or proprietary information or data. This position requires you to work closely with other individuals in a collaborative team environment.

Schedule

  • Remote, ongoing contract opportunity.
  • Approximately 15-25 hours per week, with workload fluctuations based on project activity and milestones.
