Freelance Production Assistant, FOX Weather

About the role

FOX Weather is looking for a part-time Freelance Production Assistant to join our team in New York. In this role, you'll support live programming by helping producers and meteorologists bring breaking weather stories to air.

Responsibilities

• Support producers and meteorologists by researching stories and preparing visual elements for live programming
• Attend editorial meetings and help identify the strongest video, graphics, and storytelling opportunities
• Source, verify, and clear compelling user-generated content from social media and other platforms
• Ingest, log, and edit video and sound bites
• Write clear, accurate lower thirds, banners, and video graphics with close attention to detail
• Use Adobe Premiere to edit video and graphics for air
• Coordinate with reporters and producers to manage production elements for live shots and looklives
• Stay up to date on breaking weather events and newsroom priorities
• Assist the production team with other editorial and production needs as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience
• Internship or professional experience in a newsroom, broadcast, or digital production environment
• Basic video editing experience using Adobe Premiere or similar non-linear editing software
• Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and perform under tight deadlines in a breaking news environment
• Proficiency with social media platforms
• Passion for weather news is a plus

Pay

The pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $17.79-22.00 per hour.
