Freelance Packaging Copy Proofreader

Responsibilities

• Copy Proofing & Execution: Proofreads packaging copy against final artwork to check voice, spelling and grammar.
• Maintains consistent label voice and stylization for multiple private labels.
• Executes high-quality and error-free copy work and revisions prior to publish.
• Adheres to templates, style guides and legal FPLA guidelines.
• Reviews copy edits based on feedback from Merchants, Designers and Agents.
• Proofreads new style guides, artwork templates and other projects as they arise.
• Communication & Collaboration: Leverages existing tools to get necessary product information to proof effective, accurate copy.
• PARTNERS WITH PACKAGING DESIGNERS TO UNDERSTAND PACKAGING DESIGN REQUIREMENTS AND IMPLICATIONS FOR COPY.
• Reviews copy to ensure accuracy of copy hierarchy and content before publishing.
• Process Management: Supports and adheres to standardized Packaging approval routing processes.
• Excells at time management, prioritization and multitasking to meet packaging deadlines.
• CREATES, MAINTAINS AND ENFORCES ACCURACY OF THE COPY GUIDES AND TOOLS.
• TRACKS PROOFING EDITS AND DELIVERS CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK TO COPYWRITERS.

Requirements

• Minimum 3-5 years of direct experience proofreading at a large retail or wholesale company;
• Prior work experience with packaging is preferred;
• Prior experience copywriting for home décor product a plus;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.

Qualifications

The company is based in NYC but the role is fully remote. Just need to work NY hours. Looking to bring someone onboard by the end of July. Pay rate is approximately 45-48 an hour based on experience.
