About the role

LNP Media Group seeks freelance correspondents to report on specific school districts and local governments in Lancaster County, PA. This role is ideal for individuals interested in local government and education topics.

Responsibilities

• Attend municipal and school board meetings, mostly occurring evenings.
• Write concise and unbiased news briefs meeting professional journalism standards.
• Request public records and interview news sources from various perspectives.
• Identify potential stories and maintain close communication with newsroom staff.

Requirements

• Possess excellent writing skills, interpersonal communication skills, and ability to report news fairly and accurately on deadline.
• Must have a good grasp of AP style.
• Ensure coverage reflects the diversity of cultures in Lancaster County.
• Exercise honesty, integrity, and respect with all clients.
• Have a bachelor’s degree and news writing experience at a daily or weekly newspaper; professional experience will receive priority, but strong college portfolios will be considered.
• Live within a 30-minute drive of their coverage area.
