Freelance In-Person Event Specialist - Houston, TX

Responsibilities

• Coincide with the on-site team during in-person events: setup, alignment, teardown, cleaning, addressing issues, and ensuring high-quality customer experience.
• Represent Visit.org at events and solve problems.
• Manage the check-in process for in-person events, offering a warm welcome to guests.
• Handle supply issues, late staff, technology challenges, and other problems.
• Report regularly to the Events Team with updates, photos, and videos.
• Assist in the breakdown of events, cleaning the site, and repackaging and shipping materials back to the distribution center.
• Pack supplies and add shipping labels, which may include loading boxes.

Requirements

• Fluency in English and strong communication skills.
• Experience in complex, large-scale events and smaller executive-level intimate events.
• Experience in executing events at the highest level and continuously improving content and the customer experience.
• Resourcefulness, ability to handle pressure, and a solution-focused approach to ambiguous situations.
• Quick thinking and the ability to think on one's feet in fast-paced environments.
• Self-starter with organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, and travel to various areas of the local region.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, especially in fast-paced situations.
• Able to wear multiple hats and take on varied tasks and projects.
• Comfortable being present and interacting with large crowds.

Physical Demands

• Able to lift, slide, and carry up to 30 lbs.
• Able to stand for an extended period of time.

Qualifications

Based in Houston, TX. This role is open only to those candidates already based in Houston, TX. No relocation packages are offered at this time.
