About OnePay

OnePay is the consumer fintech trusted by millions of Americans to make money better. Our financial system is broken—high fees, low rates, and too few ways to grow your money. We’re fixing it with an all-in-one financial services platform that brings together banking, high-yield savings, credit cards, point-of-sale lending, investing, and crypto in one place. We partner with employers, HCM providers, gig platforms, and others to deliver embedded financial services to millions of employees and frontline workers. Backed by Walmart and Ribbit Capital, we’re building something truly category-defining with rare scale and distribution.

What sets OnePay apart is how we move: fast, hungry, and driven by urgency. We’re looking for people who are exceptional at what they do, comfortable operating in motion, and have low ego.

About the Role

As part of the Fraud Strategy team, your mandate is to minimize fraud losses from account takeover (ATO) and scams targeting OnePay customers while optimizing the customer experience within Authentication risk flows. This includes device login risk, profile management, account recovery, passcode reset, and mobile wallet provisioning. You will support the build-out and maintenance of a best-in-class fraud platform, core capabilities, and risk strategies, including integrating agentic AI into risk decision flows. You’ll collaborate with product, platform, data, technology, and operations teams to advance fraud controls and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain data-driven strategies to prevent fraud loss from ATO, scams, and social engineering schemes targeting OnePay customers.
  • Create and execute the authentication roadmap for OnePay, covering analytics, tools, capabilities, and operational processes.
  • Conduct independent data analytics of portfolio behavior to identify new or shifting fraud trends using Databricks (SQL, Python).
  • Oversee authentication fraud monitoring/alerting logic, ensuring critical loss vectors are covered and alerts are relevant and timely.
  • Support the build-out and integration of AI capabilities within risk workflows to automate processes, accelerate execution, and improve fraud prevention and customer experience.
  • Maintain and enhance network/graph analysis strategies to capture collusive fraud rings while minimizing false positives.
  • Collaborate with IT, Operations, Product, and AML teams to investigate and triage authentication fraud incidents.
  • Stay abreast of the latest fraud prevention industry developments, emerging fraudster tactics, and methods to combat them as the SME for authentication fraud at OnePay.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience directly managing authentication risk strategies (e.g., device/login risk, account recovery, profile management like phone/email/address updates).
  • Highly analytical skillset with the ability to synthesize vast amounts of data into meaningful insights.
  • Deep domain knowledge of tools and tactics used by bad actors to conduct targeted or large-scale authentication fraud attacks, and experience developing best-in-class solutions to mitigate these threats.
  • Demonstrated ability building with AI tools—including LLMs, prompt engineering, workflow automation, or advanced analytics platforms—to improve fraud strategy, detection, and operational efficiency.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly for diverse audiences.
  • An act-like-an-owner mentality with a bias toward taking action.

Benefits

  • Competitive cash compensation.
  • Benefits effective on day one.
  • Generous stock option packages in an early-stage startup.
  • Remote-friendly (anywhere in the U.S.) with flexible scheduling.
  • Flexible time off programs: vacation, sick leave, paid parental leave, and paid caregiver leave.
  • 401(k) plan with match.

Leveling Philosophy: OnePay uses a flat titling structure internally, with external postings occasionally including prefixes like "Senior" for clarity. Internal titles reflect functional responsibility and role placement (e.g., "Engineer, Platform"). Compensation is commensurate with experience and internal level.
