Fraternity and Sorority Life Graduate Assistant

Responsibilities

  • Co-advise one of the governing councils within the fraternity and sorority community.
  • Mentor and support student leaders in achieving organizational and council goals.
  • Aid in the development and implementation of leadership education and training programs.
  • Promote personal growth, accountability, and leadership development among fraternity and sorority members.
  • Aid students in navigating challenges and opportunities within their organizations and the broader campus community.
  • Affiliate in planning, coordinating, and evaluating educational programs for the fraternity and sorority community.
  • Support the execution of large-scale signature events, including recruitment and intake initiatives, Greek Week, community-wide programs, leadership retreats, and other departmental events.
  • Affiliate in fostering a positive, values-based fraternity and sorority culture that aligns with the University’s mission and strategic priorities.
  • Contribute to initiatives designed to strengthen community engagement, belonging, and student success.
  • Affiliate with the day-to-day operations of the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life.
  • Attend and contribute to departmental meetings and weekly supervision meetings.
  • Participate in student affairs training opportunities and professional development experiences.
  • Affiliate with data collection, assessment efforts, and administrative projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Acceptance into or current enrollment in a graduate degree program at Coastal Carolina University.
  • Demonstrated interest in student affairs, higher education, leadership development, fraternity and sorority life, or a related field.

Qualifications

  • High energy, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.
  • The ability to work independently as a self-starter while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong adaptability, flexibility, and problem-solving skills in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • A willingness to lead, learn, and be developed as an emerging higher education professional.
  • Creativity and innovation in supporting student engagement and programming efforts.
  • An interest in fraternity and sorority life, leadership development, student affairs, and higher education administration.
  • Experience with marketing, social media management, and communication strategies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Canva, and other relevant technology platforms.
  • Previous involvement in campus activities, student leadership, fraternity and sorority life, or related experiences is preferred.
