About the Role

The Press Brake Operator operates a Press Brake machine to bend or form metals to meet customer specifications and production requirements following engineering documents and shop travelers. This position emphasizes quality workmanship, accountability, safety, and teamwork to ensure the job is done right the first time.

Responsibilities

• Support continuous improvements in safety, quality, 5S, and existing manufacturing processes.
• Provide feedback to leadership to resolve quality issues or suggest operational improvements for productivity and procedural changes.
• Ensure the machine is always running; communicate any issues that prevent product flow.
• Know and abide by all company rules and policies regarding safety and conduct, including the use and maintenance of company-provided PPE.
• Embrace cross-training by learning other jobs or tasks within the facility.
• Perform daily housekeeping to maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Set up and operate CNC Punch Press, maintaining continuous workflow through adherence to documented processes.
• Produce parts utilizing the “top down” production list.
• Layout and load materials using measuring tools.
• Change dies as needed according to engineering documents.
• Perform first part inspections and in-process quality checks.
• Assist with daily PM schedule for the machine, including maintaining dies and monitoring for excessive wear.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of manufacturing experience in a high-volume, fast-paced production environment.
• Metalworking or hollow metal fabrication experience preferred.
• Manufacturing equipment experience with CNC preferred.

Skills

• Ability to read and understand engineering documents and shop travelers.
• Knowledge of basic math.
• Ability to use handheld measuring tools, including tape measures and calipers.
• Ability to recognize die profiles needed for parts based on engineered documents.
• Knowledge of die changes and basic die maintenance.
• Ability to set up and operate a press brake machine.
• Understanding of finished part characteristics.
• Knowledge and ability to maintain the machine in good working order.
• Knowledge of lockout/tagout procedures.
• Dexterous with manufacturing equipment, basic power tools, and machinery.

Physical Demands

• Dexterous use of hands to grasp and pull material.
• Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent pushing and pulling of 100+ pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.

Work Environment

• Fast-paced custom metal manufacturing environment.
• High noise levels.
• Contact with metals and lubricants.
• Exposure to moving objects such as machinery, mechanical parts, forklifts, and carts.
• Exposure to hot or cold temperatures in areas of the building that cannot be temperature-controlled, especially during summer months.

Pay

The expected base hourly range is $20 - $23.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

Schedule

Flexible schedule is required, including overtime and variable start times depending on work volumes.
