Fractional Operations Manager
About the role
Fin Tek Media is a fast-growing financial media brand focused on sharing data-driven information through charts and data. The position involves taking operational work off the founder's plate to allow the business to continue growing. Key responsibilities include mapping and documenting existing processes, identifying and automating repetitive tasks, managing contractors, and overseeing sponsorship operations.
Responsibilities
- Map the existing content production process with the founder
- Turn undocumented and existing processes into clear, usable SOPs
- Set up KPIs tied to each process so work can be handed off and measured
- Own the feedback loop by ensuring SOPs are followed, refined, and kept current
- Identify where repeatable work should be automated (via AI, code, or tooling)
- Manage contractors who build automations; evaluate quality and whether the solution actually solves the need
- Maintain and build out Fin Tek's systems in Notion as the team grows beyond the founder
- Take over the search for a writer/producer once fully onboarded
- Help map where full-time roles vs. contractors make sense as the business scales
- Over time, grow into building and supporting a team
- Take over day-to-day sponsorship operations using the founder's existing Notion calculator and custom GPT (~3 hours/week to start)
- Help push sponsorship revenue toward more growth
- Take a steady stream of strategic ideas from the founder and help prioritize, sequence, and push back based on capacity
- Support decisions and evaluate opportunities for expansion, including adding additional platforms and potential low-touch products
- Grow into light financial reporting / dashboards over time
Requirements
You're energized by building systems and turning chaos into structure. When something is repeatable, your instinct is to document it, then automate it. You take ownership of the full loop, set up KPIs, hand off SOPs, and keep them running. You think like an operator and are genuinely open to detailed, direct feedback, and you act on it without ego. You're highly organized and keep complex, multi-moving-part initiatives on track. You stay calm under pressure and prioritize competing projects well. You're self-directed and accountable, comfortable with autonomy, ambiguity, and proactive ownership in an early-stage company. You're tech-savvy and quick to pick up new tools, from Notion to AI/automation. You're comfortable letting data guide decisions and communicate clearly and consistently, especially when something is behind, unclear, or missing information.
