About the Role
PsychPlus is seeking an experienced Fractional General Counsel to provide executive-level legal leadership on a part-time or contract basis. The role serves as a strategic advisor to executive leadership, overseeing legal affairs, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, commercial contracting, and enterprise risk management.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic legal counsel aligned with the company's business objectives and growth plans.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, data privacy laws, telehealth requirements, and corporate governance standards.
- Advise executive leadership on legal, regulatory, and compliance matters.
- Identify and assess legal and regulatory risks across the organization.
- Develop practical strategies to mitigate business and compliance risks.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage commercial agreements.
- Oversee vendor, partnership, employment, contractor, licensing, technology, and Business Associate Agreements (BAAs).
- Support commercial transactions and business initiatives through legal review.
- Advise on physician practice operations and healthcare regulations.
- Provide guidance on HIPAA, telehealth regulations, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, and related compliance requirements.
- Support compliance initiatives, audits, and policy development.
- Advise executive leadership on governance, corporate structure, and regulatory obligations.
- Manage legal disputes, claims, and investigations.
- Coordinate with outside counsel on litigation and specialized legal matters.
- Evaluate litigation strategies and settlement opportunities.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active bar membership in good standing.
- 10+ years of legal experience with significant healthcare law expertise.
- Extensive experience supporting physician group practices.
- Previous experience as a General Counsel, Fractional General Counsel, or senior in-house healthcare counsel preferred.
- Deep knowledge of HIPAA, healthcare regulatory compliance, telehealth laws, corporate governance, employment law, and commercial contracting.
- Experience supporting high-growth healthcare organizations or digital health companies is highly preferred.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and business judgment.
- Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with executive leadership.
