About the role
This role oversees multiple controller-level client engagements for construction contractors, combining hands-on accounting work with direct client advisory.
Responsibilities
- Maintain ownership of multiple client engagements simultaneously, each varying in scope and complexity.
- Develop a thorough working understanding of each client's accounting operations.
- Review month end close procedures and provide constructive feedback to client teams.
- Prepare financial statements and custom financial reports such as projections and financial models to agreed deadlines.
- Identify opportunities for additional client services.
- Build and maintain ongoing client relationships, with regular interaction across engagements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with client stakeholders including banks, surety and bonding companies, and insurance providers.
- Apply strong bookkeeping, management reporting, month end closing, and payroll experience to produce accurate financial statements.
- Contribute to client business strategy through forecasts, projections, and financial models.
- Ongoing research into industry developments, macroeconomic factors affecting contractors, and current accounting and finance topics relevant to the client base.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
- 5+ years of private accounting experience within the construction industry
- Demonstrated experience with construction accounting methodologies, including WIP (percentage of completion), job costing, variance analysis, labor and burden rates, and billing and retainage
- Demonstrated experience producing projections and financial models
- Experience with Foundation Software, Acumatica, or similar construction focused accounting software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and take ownership of work
Qualifications
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP) certification
- Working knowledge of GAAP

- $115,000 to $130,000 base salary, plus bonus
