The OpportunityAs a Fractional CFO at 82i, you are no longer just becoming a CFO—you are beginning the transition into an operator. You already have strong finance fundamentals. In this role, you will expand beyond technical excellence into:● Owning complex business problems● Leading client relationships● Developing judgment under ambiguity● Coaching and developing consultants● Advising founders on real operating decisions This is a leadership role, not a project management role. What You’ll DoYou will be embedded inside growing, founder-led companies, owning real business problems from start to finish. Your work is finance—but not in a back-office or checkbox sense. You will own the financial backbone of real businesses and use it to drive better decisions. In this role, you will:● Lead financial planning, forecasting, and operating model design● Own cash flow management and capital planning for multiple client companies● Manage or oversee accounting functions at the client or alongside 82i team members● Serve as a primary finance and strategy partner to founders and CEOs● Design and oversee investor-ready financial infrastructure and reporting● Lead and develop consultants across multiple engagements● Translate complex analysis into clear executive-level recommendations● Present insights and recommendations to executive teams and boards Your job is not to produce outputs. Your job is to improve the quality of decisions inside real businesses. Internal Leadership & Firm-Building Responsibilities In addition to client work, Fractional CFOs play an active role in building 82i itself. This role is designed to develop not just client leaders, but future firm leaders. Depending on your interests and strengths, you may:● Lead internal initiatives across recruiting, training, and talent development● Help design and refine our delivery model, tools, and internal processes● Mentor and coach consultants beyond your direct engagements● Contribute to recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new team members● Participate in shaping service lines, pricing, and go-to-market strategy● Work directly with partners on firm strategy and long-term initiatives This is not a “stay in your lane” role.
