FPT VBC - Line 2 pack out (DS)

About the Role

This position involves learning, performing, and rotating between the roles of packer, scaler, styler, and grader to maintain line speeds for various products at designated rates.

Responsibilities

• Work on a moving conveyor belt using both hands.
• Spread or style product by hand on the belt.
• Perform multiple types of packing and weighing.
• Pull bones from product; inspect, grade, and remove product that does not meet standards.
• Participate as a team member in ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
• Coordinate work to ensure best practices with all team members and attend team meetings.
• Foster strong team cohesiveness on major issues and identify areas lacking cohesiveness to resolve with the team leader.
• Reinforce actions needed to achieve synergy within the larger organization.
• Maintain familiarity with Simmons’ operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN) and understand the role in supporting these systems.
• Communicate concerns and improvement ideas related to operating systems.
• Perform other duties as necessary to support business objectives.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to move, push, or pull up to 55 pounds from table to scales at waist level.
• Bend, stoop, walk, stand, and work in a cold, wet, noisy, and dusty environment for an entire shift.
• Perform repetitive motion and rotate through cold and hot areas of the plant.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

• Standard waterproof gloves and sleeves.
• Hearing protection.
• Slip-resistant footwear.

Qualifications

• Communication skills and decision quality: Ability to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and the leadership team.
• Preference for experience in poultry or food processing organizations.
