FP&A Manager, Land
About the role
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated FP&A Manager to lead the financial planning and analysis to support the organization’s land acquisition and land development operations.
The Land FP&A Manager will be responsible for overseeing the forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis processes, as well as providing strategic financial insights to support the organization's growth and profitability.
The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a deep understanding of financial management principles applicable to real estate, and a proven track record of driving process improvements.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes for land projects across multiple markets.
- Develop and maintain complex financial models to support decision-making for land purchases, development projects, and capital allocations.
- Partner with accounting and land development team to maintain development project budgets and cash flow projections.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for growth.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of financial plans with strategic objectives.
- Prepare monthly land financial reporting package, including variance analysis and management reporting to highlight financial and operational performance.
- Evaluate potential investments, mergers, and acquisitions to support growth initiatives.
- Analyze projected returns, cash flows, internal rate of return (IRR), net present value (NPV), and profitability metrics.
- Serve as the primary finance partner for Land Acquisition and Land Development leadership.
- Drive improvements in financial processes, systems, and reporting capabilities to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Expert financial modeling and analytical skills.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial software applications, OneStream a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial statement analysis, and management reporting.
- Ability to build positive rapport with individuals at all levels of the organization, as well as outside the company.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a results-driven mindset.
