FP&A Analyst
About the role
The FP&A Analyst, working in collaboration with and in support of the firm’s strategic initiatives, is a technically skilled, curious, and forward-thinking professional who supports financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and insight-driven decision-making for assigned practice groups and across the firm.
Responsibilities
- Support practice group and firm reporting requirements by providing informative analytics and insights to leadership, with a focus on actionable recommendations and profitability.
- Monitor and analyze practice group revenue activity, ensuring alignment with budgets and forecasts and explaining key variances.
- Partner with expense management and data/analytics teams to perform profitability analysis that supports the firm’s financial goals and initiatives.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial packages for leadership, highlighting key trends, drivers, and variances with clear, actionable insights.
- Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes, improve data quality, and increase reporting efficiency through automation and standardization.
- Contribute to finance automation efforts, including building and improving simple-language AI agents (e.g., chatbots, cash flow models, validation tools) that support FP&A workflows.
- Analyze structured and unstructured data to extract insights, support predictive analysis, and improve forecasting accuracy.
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting requests, synthesizing findings into clear takeaways and recommended actions.
Qualifications
- Ability to analyze complex financial and operational data and translate results into actionable insights for practice group leadership.
- Strong communication and financial storytelling skills; comfortable presenting to non-finance stakeholders.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams.
- High energy, eagerness to learn, and interest in applying AI/automation to modernize FP&A processes.
- Experience in a law firm, financial institution, or professional services organization is a plus.
- Familiarity with tools such as Python, SQL, Power BI, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Claude, or similar platforms is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Data Science, Computer Science, or similar field.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in finance, accounting, FP&A, or data analytics, preferably with exposure to AI/machine learning initiatives and revenue/expense management.

Work Environment The individual selected for this position may have the opportunity for a hybrid work arrangement comprised of remote and in-office work, the requirement for which will be determined in coordination with the hiring manager or supervisor and may be modified in the firm’s discretion in the future.
Pay
The firm’s expected hiring range for this position is $84,366 - $122,434 per year depending on the candidate’s geographic market location. The compensation offered for employment will also be dependent on other factors including the candidate’s experience, skills, educational and professional background, and overall qualifications.
Schedule
The position can sit in our Reston or Baltimore office and offers a hybrid work schedule.
