BehaviorAI is a top-tier VC-backed startup and Cornell SciFi Lab spinout building AI models to understand human behavior through wearable sensors.
About the role
As a Founding ML Engineer at BehaviorAI, you will architect and deploy state-of-the-art multimodal models for real-world time-series sensor data. You’ll design novel architectures from scratch—moving beyond simple fine-tuning—to power next-generation wearable intelligence. This hands-on role involves shipping direct-to-user solutions in a high-energy, proactive startup environment.
Location: Brooklyn, USA
Why this role is remarkable
- Work directly with founders Cheng Zhang (NSF CAREER Award winner) and Mehrab Bin Morshed (ex-Samsung Research) at the intersection of academia and industry.
- Influence the core product by designing novel ML architectures from scratch rather than just fine-tuning existing models for specific hardware.
- Join a top-tier VC-backed founding team with significant equity and the ability to shape a Cornell SciFi Lab spinout from day one.
Responsibilities
- Architect and deploy SOTA multimodal models (CV, NLP) specifically optimized for real-world time-series data from wearable sensors.
- Develop and implement real-time inference and on-device machine learning capabilities to ensure low-latency performance in field settings.
- Drive the technical roadmap for foundation models that integrate multi-modal sensing to deeply understand human behavior and intent.
Requirements
- Proven experience processing real-world sensor or time-series data (e.g., image, IMU) with a focus on real-time inference and on-device ML.
- Strong background in Foundation Models and multimodal sensing, with the technical ability to build and iterate on complex architectures.
- High-energy, proactive mindset suited for an early-stage startup, with a willingness to own technical problems from research to final production.
