Outro Health is a seed-stage virtual clinic helping patients safely taper off antidepressants using evidence-based protocols. Co-founded by world-renowned expert Dr. Mark Horowitz, the company is building a first-of-its-kind digital health platform to provide medically supervised guidance for millions looking to safely reduce medication under the Maudsley Deprescribing Guidelines.
About the role
As engineer #2 at Outro Health, you will partner directly with the CTO to build a revolutionary health platform from scratch. You will own the full-stack architecture across patient-facing mobile apps, clinician portals, and pharmacy integrations. This is a rare opportunity to shape the engineering culture and product of a mission-driven NYC startup.

Responsibilities
- Architect and build end-to-end features using TypeScript, Node.js, and Next.js, scaling the platform from its early stages to a robust production system.
- Develop and maintain cross-platform mobile experiences with React Native, ensuring seamless, medically-safe communication between patients and their specialized clinical teams.
- Collaborate directly with the founders in an onsite NYC environment to iterate on product requirements, pharmacy logistics, and internal operations tooling.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an early-stage or founding engineer (ideally #1-5) who has successfully built and scaled products from near-zero in high-ambiguity environments.
- Deep technical proficiency across the modern TypeScript stack, including React, Node.js, and GCP, with a preference for candidates from the health-tech sector.
- Strong bias for action and local presence in NYC, ready to work onsite 5 days a week in a fast-paced, collaborative startup setting.
