Founding Engineer

Overview

Aqua is the transaction and automation platform for alternative investments. We help RIAs, broker-dealers, and asset managers process trillions of dollars annually through complex financial documents and manual data entry. Our mission is to modernize the industry by automating and streamlining these processes.

What You'd Actually Be Working On

• Building LLM-powered pipelines to ingest, classify, extract, and generate complex financial documents.
• Systematically identifying and automating high-volume, high-cost operational processes.
• Migrating a large microservices codebase to a modern, agent-friendly architecture while maintaining production stability.

What You Bring

• Experience building and shipping systems that handle real money, data, or compliance constraints.
• Treatment of testing, validation, and edge case handling as integral parts of the development process.
• Comfortable working across backend systems, data pipelines, and infrastructure.
• Experience with or understanding of LLM-powered applications and their potential and failure modes.
• Able to own hard problems and make architectural decisions that drive the team forward.
