Still University – College of Healthy Communities (ATSU-CHC) Location: San Luis Obispo, CA | Start Date: Q1 2027 | Inaugural Cohort: July 10, 2028 Appointment: Full-Time, 12-Month | Rank: Associate Professor or Professor Salary: $116,424–$174,636 (Associate) | $139,744–$209,616 (Professor) | Relocation: Up to $12,000 Executive Opportunity A.T. Still University (ATSU) invites applications for the Founding Department Chair and BSN Program Director in San Luis Obispo. Serving as Chief Nurse Administrator and BRN-approved Program Director, you will hold executive authority to build, launch, and lead a dynamic prelicensure BSN program from the ground up on California's Central Coast. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Governance: Direct nursing unit vision, fiscal planning, long-range strategy, shared governance, and continuous quality improvement. Accreditation & Compliance: Lead California BRN approval, CCNE accreditation readiness under 2026 Standards, self-studies, and systematic evaluation. Curriculum & Simulation: Implement a BSN curriculum incorporating AACN 2026 Essentials, partnering with the Director of Simulation & Clinical Skills for OSCE and patient-lab integration. Faculty & Students: Recruit, mentor, and evaluate Assistant Director, faculty, and staff; oversee admissions, retention, NCLEX-RN readiness, and clinical partnerships. Practice Option: Opportunity to practice clinically 1 day/week to supplement income. Requirements Education & Licensure: Earned doctorate (DNP or PhD required), advanced degree in nursing, and an active, unencumbered California RN license. Experience: Min. 1 year nursing admin/fiscal management experience; 2 years teaching in pre/post-licensure RN programs; 1 year continuous full-time direct RN patient care. Expertise: Demonstrated leadership in prelicensure program development, BRN/CCNE accreditation, and AACN Essentials implementation.
