Foundation Driller (Oncor)
Position Summary
The Foundation Driller operates specialized equipment to support foundation construction for utility power infrastructure, including transmission towers, poles, and substations. This role ensures safe, efficient, and precise operation of machinery while adhering to engineering specifications, safety standards, and environmental regulations. Reporting to the Foreman, the role involves performing excavation, drilling, and soil stabilization for deep foundations and anchor systems, following OSHA and company safety protocols, conducting routine inspections, and assisting with site preparation and material handling.
Essential Functions
- Perform excavation, drilling, and soil stabilization for deep foundations and anchor systems
- Follow OSHA and company safety protocols, including pre-operation checks and safe operating procedures
- Participate in daily safety meetings and report hazards or incidents immediately
- Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance of equipment (lubrication, fueling, cleaning)
- Report mechanical issues promptly to minimize downtime
- Collaborate with Foreman and crew to ensure proper sequencing of tasks and efficient workflow
- Assist with site preparation and material handling as needed
- Maintain accurate logs of equipment usage, hours, and maintenance activities
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience operating heavy or specialized foundation equipment in construction or utility projects
- Valid driver's license and applicable equipment operator certifications
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) – Class A
- Knowledge of soil conditions, drilling techniques, and foundation requirements
- Ability to read and follow site plans and instructions
- Strong commitment to safety and teamwork
- Able to work for extended periods in various locations, when required
- Able to lift in excess of 50 lbs
- Able to work for extended periods in various locations, when required
- Able to work outside of the normal work schedule including weekends, holidays, and overtime as required for the position
Physical Demands
While performing the responsibilities of this job, you will be required to talk, listen and use hand signals to communicate. The job frequently requires you to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle objects, operate tools or controls; reach with hands and arms. Work Environment While performing the responsibilities of this job, you are frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. You are occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. You will perform job responsibilities in extreme heat, cold, wet, windy, and storm conditions.
