Responsibilities

  • Provides one-on-one direct behavioral intervention with children/youth or support and training with individuals.
  • Serves as a positive role model for the child/youth.
  • Provides time-structuring activities.
  • Provides immediate behavioral reinforcements including appropriate de-escalation techniques.
  • Affords assistance with providing appropriate time-out strategies.
  • Assists with group leader in daily group activities.
  • Utilizes cognitive behavioral approaches.
  • Affords assistance to help the individual engage in, or remain engaged in, appropriate activities.
  • Affords assistance to help minimize the individual’s impulsive behavior.
  • Affords assistance to help increase the individual’s social and community competencies by building or reinforcing daily living skills that will assist in successfully living in the home and community.
  • Affords assistance to help the individual develop the ability to sustain self-directed appropriate behavior.
  • Affords assistance to help the individual internalize a sense of social responsibility, and/or enable participation proactively in community activities.
  • Develops behavioral treatment plans with input from the treatment team.
  • Establishes a therapeutic relationship with the individual receiving services to ensure effective guidance, support, and service delivery.
  • Ensures client safety during the provision of services and remains responsive to the client’s needs.
  • Collaborates with caregivers and guardians and supports their efforts to provide a positive environment for the individual.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding the individual and family.
  • Reports incidences of suspected child and elder abuse in compliance with mandated reporting requirements.
  • Communicates professionally with clients, parents, and guardians.
  • Attends and actively participates in ongoing supervision, treatment team meetings, and other meetings or trainings as required.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct progress notes and other written records in accordance with program standards, company policies, and state agency requirements.
  • Completes and submits all required documentation within the time frame established by company policy.
  • May provide transportation for individuals receiving services to planned and/or necessary activities and appointments.
  • Maintains confidentiality, respects human rights, and practices universal precautions.
  • Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Alabama: High school diploma or GED. Previous experience in human services is highly preferred. Experience working with children is preferred. Driver’s license, car registration, and vehicle insurance required. Good driving record.
  • Florida: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience working and/or interacting with children or adolescents in a professional or personal setting preferred. Driver’s license, car registration, and vehicle insurance required. Good driving record.
  • North Carolina: High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred. Human services experience preferred. Driver’s license, car registration, and vehicle insurance required. Good driving record.
  • Mississippi: High school diploma or GED required. Human services experience preferred. Experience working with children preferred. Driver’s license, car registration, and vehicle insurance required. Good driving record.
