Foster Family Licensing Worker

About the role

Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) is seeking a full-time Child Welfare Resource Specialist to provide comprehensive resource services to foster and adoptive families. The position involves conducting assessments, ongoing evaluations, and supporting families in compliance with state mandates and agency policies.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth mutual assessments of prospective foster/adoptive families to determine suitability for foster home licensing.
• Participate in the recruitment and matching of foster families to the programs.
• Complete and submit required reports, documentation, and billing accurately and on time.
• Identify and address ongoing training and support needs in existing homes.
• Facilitate the assessment and decision-making process for foster/adoptive parents.
• Participate in supervisory processes for guidance, direction, and support in decision making, assessment, service planning, and intervention.
• Present prospective and licensed families for staffing to prepare for recommendations regarding licensure, renewal of licenses, or other critical decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related human services field.
• State licensing/certification as required by the State of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS CWEL).
• Previous child welfare experience preferred.
• Training in KEEP and/or GenerationsPMTO or availability to participate in training once hired.
• Successful completion of CCS Bootcamp and Client-Centered Service Planning and Aftercare Planning Training.
• Valid driver’s license, in good standing for the state of residency.
• Access to reliable transportation for visits, meetings, and client transport.
• Valid IL statutory minimum liability insurance coverage, bodily injury and property damage.

Qualifications

• A real passion for working with at-risk children and families.
• Experience working independently and as a member of a team.
• Basic understanding of Word, Excel, SharePoint, and willingness to learn other systems used by LSSI.
