Foster Family and DCS Adoption Specialist

Responsibilities

- Determine suitability of prospective adoptive families and foster care providers, including the preparation of a comprehensive psycho-social home study, interviewing applicants for motivation, dynamics, and function, as well as assessing matches and familys knowledge of parenting from a strength-based, trauma-informed approach. - Educate families about adoption issues and work to resolve infertility issues with couples, making appropriate referrals as needed for counseling. - Ensure foster homes remain in compliance with program policies, child discipline policies, and state licensing requirements always. Maintain written case records and prepare quarterly summaries, annual renewals, amendments, and withdrawals in a timely manner. - Act as liaison between the foster family and DCS in matters related to reimbursements and special payments. Participate in regular Foster Care department staff meetings, both giving and receiving support from fellow staff members.

Qualifications

- 1+ years experience in parenting skills, counseling, or in-home support services. - Bachelors degree in Social Work, Family and Marriage Studies, or a closely related field.
