Foster care specialist

About the role

Foster care specialists place children in foster homes and support both children and foster families. The work involves assessing and matching placements through home visits and direct observation, supporting children and carers, monitoring wellbeing, and bearing responsibility for the safety of vulnerable children in care. They work for child welfare agencies and fostering services.
