About the role
Foster Care Specialists at Methodist Home for Children play a critical role in helping children and families navigate challenging transitions. You'll work directly with foster families, birth families, community partners, and child welfare professionals to ensure children have the support, advocacy, and stability they need to thrive.
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload while building strong relationships with children, caregivers, and community partners
- Provide case management and family-centered services to children and families
- Support foster parents through ongoing coaching, training, and advocacy
- Partner with DSS, schools, therapists, medical providers, and court personnel
- Develop service plans and help families work toward reunification and permanency goals
- Advocate for children's educational, medical, behavioral health, and developmental needs
- Maintain timely documentation and comply with licensing and regulatory requirements
- Participate in foster parent recruitment, training, and support efforts
- Provide after-hours support on a rotating basis, with team backup available
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, or a related field
- Two or more years of experience in child welfare, foster care, family preservation, case management, mental health, juvenile justice, or related human services work
- Strong assessment, documentation, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Qualifications
- Pass a background check
- Pass a drug screening
- Pass a criminal history check
