Forward Deployed Product Designer
Norm Ai, the agentic law company, serves a client base with a combined $30 trillion in assets under management. Norm Ai pioneered Legal Engineering, empowering lawyers to build and supervise domain-specific AI agents using Norm’s proprietary no-code software tools. Norm Ai technology is deployed within many of the largest and most consequential institutions globally. It also powers Norm Law, LLP, an affiliated AI-native law firm designed for the era of agentic AI. Norm Law’s attorneys advise leading institutions across private funds, private equity, venture capital, real estate, registered funds, and financial regulation, leveraging the same legal intelligence platform that powers Norm Ai’s products.
AI Fluency
Norm Ai expects all team members to be fluent in AI. Successful candidates actively use AI in their day-to-day work to support thinking, creation, and problem-solving. They leverage AI to improve the quality and speed of their work and continuously refine workflows. Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate and discuss their AI usage throughout the interview process, including concrete examples of tools, workflows, and outcomes. Practical, hands-on experience is valued over theoretical familiarity.
About the Role
Design the client experience for a new kind of law firm. Norm Law combines excellent legal service with software that makes working with outside counsel more transparent, interactive, and modern than the traditional law firm experience. As a Staff Product Designer on the Deployment Team, you’ll design practice-group-specific software that brings this experience to life: tools that help clients see what is happening, assist partners in delivering excellent service, and simplify navigating complex legal work.
This is a forward-deployed role. You’ll collaborate directly with Norm Law partners, clients, and Forward Deployed Engineers to define the ideal attorney and client experience, transform messy requirements into prototypes and shipped products, and make the work tangible for stakeholders. You’ll operate in a continuous design and delivery loop, not a traditional handoff model. You’ll sketch and prototype quickly, bring a strong point of view, and stay involved through implementation and QA as the product evolves. Some problems will require deep exploration; others will need decisive action the same day. You’ll need the judgment to know the difference. Success means improving the quality and coherence of what ships while keeping pace with the Deployment Team. Your work should also advance Norm’s design system, identifying reusable components and interaction patterns as practice-group workflows grow more sophisticated.
