About the role
The Forward Deployed Engineer, AI Tools partners with business units to understand workflows and build AI and automation solutions in collaboration with operational teams. This role embeds engineering directly into operations to identify and solve high-value workflow problems using AI and technology.
Responsibilities
- Partner with business units to understand workflows, operational pain points, data constraints, compliance boundaries, and user adoption barriers.
- Investigate problems from process, data, compliance, user experience, and technical angles before proposing solutions.
- Scope and build solutions using Python, SQL, Power Automate, Copilot Studio, Claude, and other tools as needed.
- Build against real systems and data while respecting security, privacy, HIPAA, PHI, and operational control requirements.
- Deploy and operate AI tools and solutions in production, with metrics defined from day one for adoption, time saved, error reduction, and workflow impact.
- Partner with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to turn recurring workflow patterns into shared product opportunities.
Requirements
- 3+ years building and shipping software solutions, with strong Python and SQL skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field.
- Experience automating business workflows using Power Automate, Copilot Studio, RPA, low-code platforms, custom code, or comparable tooling.
- Passion for driving efficiency through AI and other modern tools.
- Practical experience applying LLMs, ML, automation, or data-driven approaches to operational problems.
- Consultative instincts and comfort working with non-technical operators to extract the real problem behind the stated request.
- Ownership mentality, including willingness to deploy, support, operate, and measure the value of what you build.
- Strong written and verbal communication for technical, operational, and business audiences.
- Ability to work inside regulated workflows with attention to privacy, security, access controls, and documentation.
- Comfort balancing speed, maintainability, and fit with existing business processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior forward deployed engineering, solutions engineering, implementation engineering, or embedded consulting experience.
- Experience integrating with enterprise systems such as EHRs, data warehouses, workflow platforms, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Graph, or Teams.
Pay
Salary range: $135,000–$150,000 plus bonus and benefits.
Schedule
Full-time, Monday–Friday (must support East Coast business hours).
