About the role

The SWP is seeking a Research Assistant (d/m/w) to support the leadership and researchers of the Research Group Osteuropa und Eurasien in their research and advisory activities as soon as possible. This is a part-time position (50%) fixed-term until September 30, 2030.

Responsibilities

The work is divided into the following areas:

  • Administration and organisation:
    • Support and deputise for the office assistant of the research group
    • Provide administrative and technical support for events (research group meetings, discussion groups, etc.)
    • Draft minutes
    • Maintain the research group's online presence
    • Communicate with other departments/units
  • Academic support:
    • Support academic research projects, particularly through literature, web, data, and statistical research
    • Provide content-related support for event organisation and for internal meetings and retreats
    • Contribute to drafting working papers and third-party funding applications

Qualifications

  • Successfully completed university degree in political, social, or humanities sciences
  • Independent and responsible approach to work, strong communication skills, and organisational talent
  • Openness to taking on organisational tasks, initiative, and team orientation
  • Academic interest in the topics of the research group

Skills

  • Excellent written and spoken German and English; good Russian language skills; additional regional language is an advantage
  • Knowledge and ideally regional experience in Eastern Europe/Eurasia
  • Proficient in Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of collaboration software (e.g. Nextcloud, WebEx) and Citavi would be desirable
