This is a permanent, fully onsite position based in Memphis, TN.
About the Role
Lead the development, scale-up, commercialization, and continuous improvement of agricultural chemical formulations including herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, adjuvants, plant growth regulators, and related products.
Responsibilities
- Formulation Development
- Develop SC, EC, SL, SE, WP, WDG/WG, emulsions, microemulsions, fertilizers, granules, and adjuvants
- Optimize formulation components and raw materials
- Improve stability, performance, manufacturability, and cost
- Scale-Up & Manufacturing
- Lead lab-to-commercial scale-up
- Troubleshoot mixing, milling, granulation, drying, viscosity, and particle size issues
- Develop manufacturing processes and specifications
- Stability & Compliance
- Oversee stability studies
- Investigate formulation failures and degradation issues
- Support EPA and regulatory compliance
- Leadership
- Mentor and develop technical personnel
- Support manufacturing and customer issue resolution
- Drive cost savings and continuous improvement initiatives
- Cross-functional collaboration with Regulatory, Manufacturing, QA, Supply Chain, and Marketing
Requirements
- 10+ years of formulation development experience
- Agricultural chemical formulation experience
- Experience developing and commercializing products
- Scale-up experience from lab through commercial manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of:
- Surfactant chemistry
- Emulsification
- Rheology
- Colloidal systems
- Solubility
- Crystallization
- Formulation stability
- BS, MS, or PhD in Chemistry, Agricultural Chemistry, Formulation Science, or related field
- Experience with instrumentation methods:
- HPLC
- GC
- GC-MS
- HPLC-MS
- Atomic Absorption (AA)
- Particle size analyzers
- Viscometers
- Technical team leadership experience
Pay
The pay range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000/year. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
