Scope of Responsibilities
- Synthesize and deliver accurate, market trend deliverables to internal and external entities.
- Ensure the integrity of drug pipeline maps, market trend analysis, and formulary documentation while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
- Create draft reviews for submittal to Director of Clinical and Formulary Operations for approval prior to delivery to various internal and external parties.
Job Summary
The Formulary Operations Specialist is a highly independent and structural role within the Vertex team. This member is responsible for monitoring and identifying market changes and trends to ensure Vertex maintains a strong competitive position. This member is also responsible for developing key deliverables for internal and external clients expressing formulary, trends, placement, and differentiating information.
Education/Licensure Required
- A High School Diploma or GED
- National Certification as a Pharmacy Technician in good standing
Experience Required
- Minimum 5 years of experience in drug information, formulary management, or managed care pharmacy.
- Prior exposure to cost-effectiveness analysis and integration of clinical insights with financial considerations.
- Prior involvement in pipeline monitoring and formulary strategy development.
- Experience collaborating with analytics and finance teams for rebate and formulary optimization.
Job Skills Required
- Regulatory Awareness: Understanding of FDA regulations, safety alerts, and compliance requirements for formulary processes.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with drug information databases (e.g., Medispan, First Data Banks) and formulary management tools.
- Data Analytics: Ability to interpret formulary data structures and communicate data effectively with finance and analytics teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication for preparing informational materials and presenting to committees.
- Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with clinical, financial, and operational teams to align formulary decisions with organizational goals.
- Problem-Solving: Strategic thinking to balance clinical and financial considerations in formulary development.
Compensation
$30.00-35.00 per hour. The final offer will be determined after careful consideration of multiple factors such as relevant skills, years of experience and education.
