About the role
The Forklift Operator / Warehouse Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of products and materials throughout the warehouse using stand-up and sit-down electric powered industrial trucks. This onsite role supports warehouse, production, and shipping operations by ensuring products are accurately loaded, unloaded, stored, and supplied while maintaining McCain’s standards for safety, quality, and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Operate stand-up and sit-down electric powered forklifts and other material handling equipment to move products and materials safely throughout the warehouse.
- Load, unload, stack, store, and transport pallets, totes, and materials to designated locations.
- Supply production and warehouse teams with materials and inventory as required to support operations.
- Fork under loads and operate lifting mechanisms to safely move products and materials.
- Follow all warehouse operating procedures, safety protocols, and security requirements.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality to meet operational requirements.
- Participate in required safety training, certification programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support warehouse operations through additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of three months of related warehouse, forklift, or material handling experience and/or training.
- Ability to complete certification through the McCain Operator Training Program.
- Ability to obtain and maintain McCain Forklift Certification and McCain Aerial Lift Certification.
- Working knowledge of, or ability to learn, the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
- Flexibility to work onsite, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as required by business needs.
Qualifications
- Ability to read, write, and interpret safety rules, procedures, work instructions, and operating guidelines.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Skills
- Proficiency with forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS).
