Forklift Operator - Union

About the Role

This position involves operating and maintaining powered industrial trucks (forklifts) in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, ensuring safe handling of raw materials, and supporting production needs.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to health, safety, GMP, and food safety policies, including PPE compliance.
• Load and unload raw materials, validate quantities, and perform warehouse functions using SAP and forklift VMUs.
• Operate forklifts safely, perform pre-trip inspections, and manage battery or propane tank changes.
• Supply materials to production lines and maintain clean work areas.
• Potentially operate production machinery and represent the company positively.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in manufacturing preferred.
• Forklift certification from an approved trainer.
• Basic computer skills and ability to read/write instructions.
• Proficiency with warehouse management software and problem-solving skills.
• Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, stoop, crouch, walk, and operate forklifts.

Skills

• Strong problem-solving and safety awareness.
• Technical aptitude and ability to analyze data for operational efficiency.

Working Conditions

Fast-paced environment with variable temperatures, noise, and physical activity, including standing, crouching, driving forklifts, and lifting.

No travel required. Flexibility for overtime and varied shifts may be necessary. Duties may evolve over time.
