About the role
Safely operates a variety of heavy equipment, including backhoes, excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, haul trucks, dump trucks, and water trucks. Responsible for preventative maintenance and pre-shift walk-around inspections to ensure safe operation.

- Maintain positive working relationships with all crew members.
- Produce high-quality work safely and productively at all times.
- Provide feedback to ensure materials, tools, equipment, and information are available for the work.
- Look for opportunities to improve tasks, methods, and means; be willing to learn from others.
- Share knowledge and teach others as opportunities arise.
- Perform high-proficiency preventative maintenance on all related equipment.
- Inspect subordinates’ work for accuracy and compliance with plans and specifications; explain deficiencies and take corrective action.
- Eliminate waste such as waiting, rework, transporting, material storage, and time.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Minimum of three years (Level I), four years (Level II), five years (Level III), or six-plus years’ experience in industrial/commercial construction.
- In-depth understanding of operating various types of heavy construction equipment.
- Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications, safety, and quality standards.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Work up to a 12-hour shift performing hard physical labor in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions.
- Climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
- Lift, push, or pull objects up to 50 lbs on an occasional basis.
- Frequently use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry, or feel objects.
- Comply with all safety standards and procedures.
- Frequently reach above shoulder height and below the waist; occasionally stoop, kneel, or bend.
- Wear personal protective equipment, including steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, and more.
- Move in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
