Forklift Operator I

Duties And Responsibilities

• Perform pre-shift forklift inspections on record preventative maintenance activities, quality inspection data, equipment downtime, production output and other key metrics, performing mathematical calculations as needed.
• Safely operate a propane sit-down forklift to move raw materials or finished products throughout the manufacturing floor, which includes, but is not limited to, keeping production line clear and running and keeping product and raw materials properly stored.
• Visually inspect material for quality defects; segregate defective product and notify supervisors.
• Fill dumpsters from production floor; housekeeping of plant (inside and out).
• Work as a team with production and shipping team to follow all facility Standard Works/processes and improve operations.
• Support the recycling area, when needed, and help to keep it clean.
• Fill in on other areas of the plant (e.g., Machine Operator) as needed.
• Assist forklift operator II as needed.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Highly motivated with a good, sound work ethic.
• Prior experience operating a propane sit-down forklift or other mobile equipment (Powered Industrial Trucks).
• Must demonstrate safe working practices and possess great attention to detail.
• Ability to follow CWT’s policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Good communication, organization, and time management skills.
• Basic computer, mathematics, and problem-solving skills; ability to use a calculator, measuring devices (gauges, tapes, rulers).
• Ability to use measuring devices (gauges, tapes, rulers).
• Team player able to follow instructions from both management and coworkers.
• Able to learn and operate new equipment.

Education And Experience

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing setting.
