Salary Range: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour (DOE)

Full-time position reporting to the Operations Manager.

About the Role

We are seeking a Forklift Operator with a background in Engineered Wood Products. This role operates a forklift to lift, load, or move material, and may operate a chainsaw to cut material as needed. The position includes inspecting and maintaining forklift and chainsaw equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Read handwritten or system-generated sales orders to determine product and note special instructions for filling an order.
  • Accurately pull delivery orders and stage for loading as directed.
  • Load product on trailers for delivery and unload product from incoming rail cars or trailers, checking the manifest.
  • Note all discrepancies and review them with the Supervisor.
  • Safely and courteously load product on customer’s truck/trailer.
  • Notify Supervisor of any request to load a potentially unsafe or overloaded vehicle.
  • Operate forklift safely at all times, following all safety rules and regulations.
  • Perform daily inspections of forklift(s) as required by OSHA and Capital Lumber Company standards.
  • Notify Supervisory staff of any necessary equipment maintenance/repair or safety concerns.
  • Band lumber product for storage or shipping.
  • Assist in moving inventory for storage within the yard area as directed.
  • Properly store inventory – level and covered as necessary.
  • Assist in inventory and/or cycle counts as directed.
  • May operate saw equipment intermittently.
  • Assist in keeping all lanes and areas clean and clear for traffic.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned by your supervisor; be flexible and adaptable to changes.

Requirements

  • 1 to 4 years of previous experience with forklifts and other machinery.
  • Forklift Certification.
  • Good knowledge of lumber products.
  • Ability to model company values and provide innovative solutions.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality, detailed, error-free work consistently.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to the extent required to receive and communicate information necessary for the position.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 5% or less of the workday.
  • Must be able to sit and walk or otherwise move around for prolonged periods throughout the workday.
