About the role
We are hiring a full-time Forklift Operator to operate a forklift and move product between locations, including racks and free-standing stacks. Duties include loading and unloading trucks and railcars, often in wet, dry, or icy conditions.
Responsibilities
- Moves levers and presses pedals to drive forklift and control movement of lifting apparatus.
- Positions forks under, over, or around loaded pallets or boxes and transports load to designated area.
- Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device.
- Stacks cases (up to 50 lbs.) for containers and rail carts.
- Inventories materials on work floor and supplies workers with materials as needed.
- Loads or unloads materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting device.
- Lubricates forklift, recharges batteries, fills fuel tank, or replaces liquefied gas tank.
- Maintains general housekeeping of product and pallets on and off the forklift.
- Performs general cleaning duties such as sweeping freezers.
- Pulls chain to open dock plate for loading, lifts pallets, stacks and removes slip sheets off pallets (40-50 times per load).
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience driving a forklift.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret data with great attention to detail.
- Basic mechanical skills.
- Must be qualified to operate forklift machinery or have forklift experience.
- Must pass Twin City Foods forklift training program.
Physical demands
- Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds; occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 75 pounds.
- Requires close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as the ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly sits; uses hands to handle or feel; reaches with hands and arms.
- Frequently stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls; talks or hears.
- Occasionally stands, walks, climbs, or balances.
Skills
- Ability to communicate in English with supervisors and co-workers.
- Ability to follow basic instructions.
- Works well in a team and with minimal supervision.
