Forklift Operator
Description
The Forklift Operator-Shipping position at Smurfit Westrock, located at 279 Mooresville Blvd, Mooresville, NC 28115, supports the operation of a fast-paced packaging manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities
- Moves units to warehouse and/or loads units onto machines or onto trucks in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ensures units are banded properly; have a clearly visible load tag on them when being loaded; and that there are no broken or missing straps on the units.
- Performs last visual quality inspection.
- Ensures unit and truck counts are correct and that all paperwork is accurate.
- Understands FIFO to ensure inventory does not become aged.
- Unloads incoming material as needed and performs a visual quality inspection on items.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Forklift certification with 3-5 years forklift experience working in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work shifts; available to work overtime.
- Able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Math skills will be assessed.
- Reads and understands an order spec sheet, load tags, unitizing, and palletizing information.
- Successfully completes Lift Truck Training and passes the written and driving skills test to be certified as a Lift Truck Operator.
- Adapts and fits into plant safety culture.
