About the role
This role involves providing high-level customer service and ensuring all inbound and outbound shipments are accurate, free of damage, and processed promptly. Key responsibilities include operating and instructing others on the operation of material moving equipment, inspecting and performing minor maintenance on equipment, and managing inventory.
Responsibilities
- Operate and instruct others in the operation of material moving equipment, including stand-up forklifts and related vehicles inside the warehouse.
- Determine sequence for loading and unloading shipments for maximum space utilization, safety, and damage protection.
- Inspect and perform minor maintenance on equipment daily.
- Perform computer lookup/inquiries to determine product location and/or description.
- Receive, stock inbound shipments; unload and load materials onto or from shipping containers, pallets, racks, and shelves.
- Maintain inventory controls by collecting stock location orders, printing requests, recording amounts of items received, and counting physical inventory.
- Operate manual dollies, manual platform lifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and hand tools used in warehouse operations safely and as instructed.
- Identify obvious damage to equipment and materials through visual inspection.
- Stock, arrange, and rotate warehouse items in accordance with standard operating procedures and/or guidance from supervisor.
- Pack and weigh any orders that require such handling when necessary.
- Prepare orders by ensuring correct products and quantities are picked and prepared for shipment.
- Stage material in proper location for shipment.
- Operate voice directed picking equipment - able to hear and speak into headset.
- Attend to details and follow directions to meet deadlines.
- Follow all safety and security procedures.
- Meet or exceed accuracy and productivity expectations.
- Absorb and assist in other departments of the warehouse, as necessary.
Requirements
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English for business and safety purposes.
- At least 18 years of age.
- 1 to 2 years of related experience and/or education.
- Forklift certification.
- Adaptive learning ability, multitasking capability, maintaining focus, adapting to various challenges.
- Positive attitude, teamwork, cooperative working relations, and independent work.
- Active listening skills.
- Basic math, reading, and voice comprehension.
- Ability to read packs, order labels, other information, and match visible items and other data.
- Maintain regular attendance.
Qualifications
- Reliable transportation.
- Previous knowledge of voice replenishment and RF equipment.
- Previous receiving experience.
- Basic knowledge of general warehouse layout, item identification, warehouse procedures, and storage areas.
Skills
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English for business and safety purposes.
- At least 18 years of age.
