Forklift Operator

About the role

As a Tow Motor/Forklift Operator you will safely and efficiently load all trucks in the assigned department, store material produced from the mill, load and unload highway rail cars, perform daily forklift upkeep, and conduct final quality checks on all outgoing material. You will also assist management with tasks such as cutting material on the saw or shear, supporting the production floor, maintaining the department, and operating a forklift anywhere on campus as needed.

Responsibilities

• Follow all work and safety instructions
• Operate machinery safely and efficiently
• Stack all production according to the storage map
• Complete work orders with accurate documentation
• Maintain accurate records of shipments
• Keep work area organized and clean
• Examine product to ensure it meets quality standards
• Load and unload material onto highway rail cars
• Load material onto scrap shear, SALV saw, and SILT table horses
• Perform basic troubleshooting when necessary
• Work in other departments throughout Franklin Industries as needed

Requirements

• Previous work experience with tow motors and/or forklifts is required
• Experience moving both palletized and non-palletized loads with a forklift is highly preferred
• Current certification in the proficient operation of forklifts is highly preferred
• Mechanical knowledge of tow motors and forklifts is highly preferred
• General math knowledge is required

• Forklifts

• Pneumatic banders (metal)

Schedule

• Between 40 and 58 hours per week
• Typical schedule: 5 AM – 4 PM, Monday through Friday
• 5 AM – 2 PM on Saturdays (only as needed, and on rotation)

Pay

• Starting pay typically begins at $20/hour, commensurate with experience
• Overtime paid at 1.5x pay after 40 hours
• Eligible for merit raises and cross-training opportunities after 90-day probationary period
