About the role
EMR USA is looking for an experienced Forklift Operator to support warehouse operations by safely moving, organizing, and preparing scrap metal materials for shipment. This role is ideal for someone with strong sit-down forklift experience, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to thrive in an active warehouse environment.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload scrap metal materials, bins, crates, bales, and other materials from trailers, truck beds, and containers
- Safely transport materials throughout the warehouse and yard
- Sort, identify, label, and move metal materials to designated locations
- Prepare materials for shipment, including packing, wrapping, and pallet preparation
- Assist customers with material handling and loading needs
- Manually move materials and fill or dump bins when required
- Support machine operators by using hand signals for larger material movements
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area
- Complete equipment maintenance logs and follow service requirements
- Follow production schedules, supervisor instructions, and all safety procedures
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- 3+ years of consecutive sit-down forklift experience required
- OSHA or safety certification preferred, but not required
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and problem-solve effectively
- Commitment to workplace safety and operational efficiency
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
- Frequent bending, kneeling, and lifting required
- Comfortable working in warehouse environments, outdoors, and confined spaces when needed
Work Environment
Warehouse and yard environment with exposure to moving equipment and machinery. Work performed in varying weather conditions. Loud noise levels may require hearing protection. Safety PPE required as needed.
