Forklift Operator - 2nd Shift

About the role

Our Kemps Cedarburg plant has an immediate opening for a fast‑paced and motivated Gripper operator in our cooler. Grippers function similarly to forklifts in terms of operator positioning and controls, but instead of forks they have pads on the sides to “grip” stacks of milk crates. The operator safely transports milk to various areas of the warehouse, following directions from the computer mounted on the equipment. The position requires precision, equipment‑handling skills, and a strong focus on safety.

Responsibilities

• Transport milk crates using the Gripper equipment according to computer‑generated directions.
• Maintain precise positioning and control of the Gripper to avoid product damage.
• Follow all safety protocols and company procedures while operating equipment.
• Assist teammates with manual stacking and moving of cases up to 6‑8 cases high.
• Perform routine equipment checks and report any issues.

Qualifications

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Capability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Pass all pre‑employment screenings including drug, background and criminal checks.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, pull, push, reach, bend for the entire shift and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to manually stack and move cases up to 6‑8 cases high.
• Comfort working in a wet environment with temperatures maintained at 35‑40 °F.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends and holidays.
• Occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals.

Pay

Starting wage $27.71 per hour, increasing to $30.75 per hour after one year of service.

Schedule

2nd shift – 4 pm start, 10‑12 hour rotating shifts, Monday‑Saturday with some Sunday work required.
