Forklift Operator - 1ST SHIFT PRIMARILY - 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM

We are looking for a qualified Forklift Operator to assist in coordinating day-to-day activities in the shipping and receiving offices, including providing customer service to truck drivers. Success in this role requires strong organizational, teamwork, and self-starter skills.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate and care for the forklift.
  • Ensure work in progress (WIP) is undamaged and the staging area is maintained in an organized manner.
  • Bring correct size and board grade stacks to machine centers.
  • Complete and document forklift inspection forms before the start of each shift and when operating a new forklift; submit maintenance work orders for needed repairs.
  • Locate stock before the start of the run and deliver it to appropriate machines safely and on time.
  • Remove finished goods from machines.
  • Maintain neat, orderly, and safe stacks of stock in storage areas.
  • Complete necessary paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate location of stock in storage areas via paperwork and computer systems.
  • Maximize equipment utilization by operating machinery at available capacity and speed.
  • Adhere to the daily production schedule.
  • Assist other forklift operators as necessary and serve as backup to the Shipping Lead Person.
  • Complete necessary reports accurately and in a timely manner, including Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, and Quality Data.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of experience as a forklift operator in a production or distribution environment.
  • Able to read, write, communicate efficiently, and follow instructions on factory masters.
  • Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume, and rate.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must sit for long periods of time and regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 100 pounds.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to hot and/or humid as well as cold conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, vibrations, louder-than-normal environments, and a high-paced atmosphere.
