About the role
Reports to the Warehouse Supervisor and is responsible for moving product or materials in a production or warehouse environment using powered tools and vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Operate industrial vehicles and equipment.
- Load and unload product from trucks.
- Transport materials to and from storage areas throughout the warehouse.
- Floor stack unitized materials in the warehouse.
- Place unitized materials into storage racks.
- Deliver requisitioned materials to assembly areas.
- Record all transactions by scanning product with a barcode reader.
- Transport trash from various locations throughout the plant and deliver it to the proper location.
- Assist in breaking down and restacking pallets on receipt, when necessary.
- Perform daily pre-start check of forklift and complete checklist form.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and company policies and procedures.
- Move product and/or materials manually as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year of related experience.
- Certified in the operation of a forklift or able to pass a written certification test and demonstrate skillful use of a forklift.
- Ability to operate a manual/powered pallet jack or lift product.
- Must meet required job-specific training located in the Training Register.
Skills
- Ability to read, write, communicate, and comprehend basic English.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write simple reports and correspondence.
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors, with good listening and comprehension.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.
- Ability to apply and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to operate a lift truck safely on the floor and in racking systems.
- Ability to operate a barcode reader and record all transactions in writing, as necessary.
- Ability to read and interpret a material request form and issue appropriate product to the assembly lines.
- Ability to make decisions on proper storage of product in the warehouse and follow a first-in-first-out system of storing product.

- Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is sometimes exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
- Frequently exposed to extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration.
- Occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and potential exposure to sulfuric acid (electric battery) and carbon monoxide from propane-fueled forklifts.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
